Food Service Disposables

Food service disposables manufacturers face a demanding challenge: counting, stacking and packaging cups, plates, lids, and utensils accurately at the speeds required to stay competitive. A single bottleneck can ripple through an entire production run, creating rework, delays and labor overhead that erodes margins fast.

Rennco has been a trusted partner to this industry for decades, delivering automated and semi-automated packaging solutions built for reliability and long-term performance. Our systems handle counting, accumulating, transferring, and packaging in one continuous line. All sealing films are food-safe and FDA-compliant for indirect food-contact packaging.

With same-day shipping on critical parts and 24/7 technical support, Rennco keeps your line running.

Rennco Solutions for Food Service Disposables

From cups and lids to plates and trays, Rennco offers purpose-built packaging systems for every format in your lineup: easy to install, simple to operate and designed to reduce waste and lower labor costs.

Rennco Model VCCL & Micro VCCL

Rennco’s Vertical Cup Counter/Loader (VCCL) counts paper, injection-molded and foam cups, then transfers precise stacks directly to a Rennco packager. Fiber optic sensors ensure accuracy at high throughput speeds, and any incorrect counts are automatically rejected before they reach packaging.

For space-constrained facilities, the Micro Vertical Cup Counter/Loader (VCCL) delivers the same capability in 30% less floor space, handling single and double poly-coated paper and clay-coated cups.

The standard VCCL scales from one to four lanes, with products fed mouth-first into a vertical tower system. Its four-lane, differential-speed capability allows multiple cup sizes to run simultaneously on a single machine with real-world throughput exceeding 1,200 cups per minute.

Compatible materials: Single and double poly-coated paper, clay-coated paper, thermoformed, injection-molded, and foam cups

Rennco Model 501 Vertical L-Bar Sealer

The Model 501 Vertical L-Bar Sealer handles package sizes from 2” x 2” up to 24” x 65” at speeds up to 30 packages per minute. Integrated with the VCCL, it forms a fully automated line that counts, stacks, bags, and seals cups in polyethylene film, releasing finished packages ready for downstream case packing.

Compared to pre-made bags on a roll, the 501 delivers significant film savings, making it a strong ROI choice for high-volume operations. Key features include a trim wind-up for scrap removal, a light screen cycling mechanism and perimeter interlocked guarding.

Footprint options:

  • Model 501-36: 74” x 78”
  • Model 501-52: 74” x 82”
  • Model 501-65: 74” x 99”

Power: 240V, 3 Phase, 60 Hz | 7.5–9 amp draw

Ideal for: High-volume automated cup and tub packaging lines integrated directly with upstream forming equipment

Rennco Trim Press Interfacing (TPI) System

The Trim Press Interfacing System connects thermoforming equipment directly to the packaging line, keeping products in rows from the moment they leave the press through counting, transferring, and final packaging.

The system is fully modular, incorporating any combination of tooling exit, pre-staging, transfer, loading, conveying, and counting to match your line’s configuration.

The result is less manual handling, fewer interruptions and unbroken production continuity from forming to finished package.

Ideal for: Thermoformed cup and lid manufacturers looking to automate the transition from press to packaging with minimal manual intervention

Customer Success: Solving a Complex Cup Packaging Challenge

A leading cold cup manufacturer needed a packaging solution capable of keeping pace with high-speed forming equipment across multiple cup sizes simultaneously. Rennco engineered a 501/VCCL system with a four-lane, differential-speed configuration, purpose-built to match the plant’s production requirements and handle more than 1,200 cups per minute.

The result was a fully automated packaging line that eliminated manual labor at the packaging stage and delivered the throughput consistency required to compete in the high-volume foodservice disposables market.

FAQs About Rennco Packaging Machinery for Food Service Disposables

Can the VCCL system handle multiple cup sizes in the same production run?

Yes. Rennco’s four-lane VCCL with differential-speed capability allows different cup sizes to be counted and packaged simultaneously on the same machine, without stopping the line to reconfigure between SKUs.

What cup materials are compatible with Rennco’s cup counting and bagging systems?

The CCL and VCCL systems handle single and double-poly coated paper cups, clay-coated paper cups, thermoformed cups, selected injection molded cups, and foam cups. The Micro VCCL is specifically designed for single and double-poly coated paper and clay-coated cups.

What film types are used for cup and plate packaging, and are they food-safe?

Rennco’s systems use polyethylene film for cup and tray bagging. All films used are food-safe and compatible with FDA requirements for indirect food contact packaging applications.

Can Rennco’s food service disposables systems integrate directly with upstream forming equipment?

Yes. The TPI system is specifically designed for direct manufacturing line integration with thermoformed cup and lid press equipment. The VCCL can also be engineered for direct upstream integration.

What’s the throughput capacity of the Model 501 integrated with the VCCL?

The Model 501 operates at up to 30 packages per minute. In a real-world four-lane VCCL installation, the combined system has achieved throughput exceeding 1,200 cups per minute, though actual throughput depends on cup size, stack count and line configuration.
